I'm also interested in philosophy, politics, PR and marketing, and concepting for mixed-media projects.

Design Philosophy

Rejected are the categories of "Applied Gaming" and "Serious Games", for I see them as a sign of creative hollows and one-dimensional design.

A true game is a seamless confluence of the insightful, the entertaining, and the educational as a singular experience.

My drive is to dissolve the very boundaries between amusement and enlightenment.

Innovation is the art of seeing the familiar in a new light. I navigate the conceptual wilderness not merely to find unique solutions, but to populate the world of ideas with new questions.

Good Design

Good design is built on consistency and conceptual depth, with headroom for expansion. Much like a pillar needing a strong foundation, only by elevation itself imagination is captivated.
The key is imagination, but a keyhole is needed.

Nihilism indirectly seeps into creation, as a lack of passion and motivation will reflect in the work. Therefore, treating the creation as an extension of yourself is what adds color to the idea and builds authenticity.

By fully embodying the idea, creative vision and design can be brought to life with thoroughness and passion. Not unlike method acting, I call this a "Method Developer" approach artistically, immersing myself into the concept completely.

My Journey

2014

The Dawn of Coding: Modding

I started teaching myself Java at age 13 and initially focused on creating Minecraft mods. Began coding by creating the famous Minecraft mods "SCPCraft" and "CreepyPastaCraft" under the name "Phuck Yu Too". I worked as the main coder on these projects.

2015

First Plunge into Game Development

Began exploring game development and discovering a passion for creating worlds.

2017-2023

Higher Education

Attended the University of the Arts Utrecht, graduating with a HBO Bachelor diploma in Game Development with Honors.

2019

Game Developers Conference

Successfully exhibited a game project (Koo-Koo) at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco as part of Alt.Ctrl.

2020

The Method Developer

Embraced the "Method Developer" philosophy, treating each project as an immersive realm.

2020-2021

Audio Programming & Design

Worked for CoΓΆperation A Bunch of Hacks U.A., developing nuanced audio systems and creating music and sound effects for the game Epicinium on Steam.

2021-2022

Bad Optics! Solo Game Development

Completely developed a full web game project as a solo indie game developer, from concept to publication, including marketing and community building.

2022

Founding of ZIGGURATH

Co-founded the band ZIGGURATH, merging music with philosophical concepts. Also plays guitar in two bands.

2024-2025

University of Amsterdam - Full-Stack Web Programmer

Contributed to the development and implementation of the new Lab Tool web platform for research within the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences.
