Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 13, 2026
The short version
MonoSplit is a private, on-device video editor. CanPixel does not receive or collect your videos, photos, audio, projects, captions, transcripts, voice recordings, or editing activity through the app. MonoSplit has no account system, advertising, analytics, tracking, telemetry, or cloud-upload service.
Information processed on your device
When you choose media, MonoSplit copies the selected photos, videos, audio, and related project information into the app's private storage so you can edit and resume projects. Project files may include titles, timelines, thumbnails, captions, transcripts, effects, templates, and other editing settings.
Speech transcription, caption generation, waveform analysis, effects, and background removal are performed locally using code and models included with the app. This content is not sent to CanPixel or to an external processing service.
Permissions
MonoSplit may request the following permissions only when they are needed for a feature you choose:
- Photos, videos, and audio: to import media into a project and, where supported, save a completed export.
- Microphone: to record a voiceover onto the timeline.
- Notifications on Android: to show export progress and completion. Exporting still works if notifications are declined, subject to operating-system restrictions.
- Foreground-service access on Android: to allow an export to continue reliably while MonoSplit is in the background.
MonoSplit does not request access to your location, contacts, advertising identifier, or camera.
Local diagnostics
If MonoSplit ends unexpectedly, it may create a crash report in the app's private storage. A report can contain the date and time, app version, operating-system version, device model, thread or error details, and a stack trace when available.
Crash reports are never uploaded automatically. On the next launch, MonoSplit lets you dismiss the report and, depending on the platform, copy or share it using the operating system's share sheet. A report leaves the device only if you explicitly choose to share it. It remains in private app storage until MonoSplit or you clear it.
Storage, deletion, backups, and transfers
Projects and app-managed media stay in MonoSplit's private storage. Deleting a project removes its project data and app-managed media that is no longer used by another project or saved template. Temporary and unreferenced files may remain briefly until local cleanup runs.
Uninstalling MonoSplit normally removes its private app data. Files you deliberately save outside MonoSplit, including completed videos in Photos or device storage, shared transcripts, templates, and .msproj project backups, remain under your control and must be deleted from their saved location separately.
Android cloud backup is disabled. Android may include MonoSplit's private project data in a device-to-device transfer during phone setup. On iOS, backups, device migration, and restoration are controlled by your Apple and device settings. An operating-system backup or device transfer may therefore retain or restore local app data after it was created.
Widgets
MonoSplit's home-screen widget reads a limited local project summary, such as the project title, thumbnail, clip count, modification time, and export status, from storage shared between the app and its widget. The widget does not transmit this information to CanPixel.
Saving, sharing, and external links
MonoSplit sends content outside its private storage only when you take an explicit action, such as saving an export, creating a project backup, or using the operating system's share sheet. The destination you choose, such as Photos, Files, another app, or a cloud-storage provider, handles that content under its own terms and privacy practices.
If you tap a privacy or support link, MonoSplit asks the operating system to open the website in your browser. Your browser, internet provider, website host, and any service you choose to contact may process the connection under their own privacy practices. MonoSplit does not receive your browser activity.
Data collection, sale, and sharing
CanPixel does not collect personal data through MonoSplit. CanPixel therefore does not sell personal data, share personal data for advertising, track users across apps or websites, or use app data for profiling.
Children
MonoSplit is not designed for children under 13. Because the app does not collect personal data, CanPixel does not knowingly collect personal data from children through MonoSplit.
Changes to this policy
If MonoSplit's data practices change, this policy will be updated before the affected version is released. The effective date at the top identifies the latest revision.
